It seems like Respawn is still ironing out some of its ideas regarding fixes, but West assures that a patch is coming soon but doesn't supply a solidified date.
There aren't a whole lot of specific details confirmed in the Twitter thread about how exactly Apex Arenas will be fixed in the upcoming update. The other way a player could lose so much AP in a loss is if they lose to a team of significantly lower rank, however, that should stop being an issue, according to West, in the next update to Apex Legends. In the thread, West seems a little puzzled by the major loss of AP after only a single defeat but says that this issue shouldn't be commonplace because one of the only ways for it to happen is if a player's AP is much higher than their MMR.
